MyCruisingLog.com has developed an electronic navigational system. The current release includes versions for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Mac. A bootable CD version is also planned. This will allow the user to run the software on any PC without installing anything on the resident hard drive.
Though navigation component does not aim to be the most advanced of navigation systems available, it does include the following features:
1. Support of NOAA raster charts;
2. Support of S-57 vector charts (S-57 is the official standard for navigational charts worldwide);
3. Support for other raster charts that comply with the BSB format (e.g. Canadian NDI charts);
4. Routes, tracking, range, and bearing display;
5. Import and export of routes and tracks;
6. Passive AIS support that will plot location, name, course, and speed of vessels with AIS transponders;
7. Passive NMEA support that will use GPS input to determine location of vessel;
All of these features are part of our navigation system and are linked to the In Every Port search facility and our Cruising Guide.
